If you have spent a few hundred hours tapping titans or clicking heroes, you already know what you like: fast hits, bosses and numbers that keep going up. Turbo Tap Masters scratches the same itch, then adds a few things those games do not have.

What feels familiar

• Tap combat. One thumb, short rounds, instant feedback.

What is different

It is active, not idle

Tap Titans 2 and Clicker Heroes are idle clicker RPGs: a big part of the design is progress while you are away. Turbo Tap Masters is an active tap RPG. Monsters hit back, rounds can be lost, and progress comes from playing. If you want a game that plays itself overnight, this is not it. If idle games leave you with nothing to actually do, keep reading.

Loot is real gear

Instead of abstract upgrade levels you find weapons, armour and hats, each with its own stats. You socket gems into them, refine them at the forge and chase epic sets that only bosses drop.

Five classes with skill trees

Warrior, Rogue, Paladin, Priest and Mage each have their own skills, spells and bonded gear. See the class guide for how they differ.

Head-to-head PvP

Ranked duels put your actual build against another player's, with a global leaderboard. You choose where to strike and where to block, so there is a mind game on top of the gear check.

The honest small print

• Free to download and play, with optional in-app purchases that are never required.
• There are ads, but never in the middle of a round.
• It needs an internet connection and a sign-in; progress is saved to your account.
• Available on iPhone, iPad and Android.
