Idle games with PvP, and one that makes you tap

Most idle games are a race against your own numbers. A few let you put those numbers against another player. Here is how PvP works in the best-known ones, and where an active tap RPG fits in.

How PvP works in idle games

In almost every idle game PvP is automatic: you pick an opponent from a list, your team fights a saved copy of theirs, and the battle plays out on its own. Your decisions happen before the fight (who is in the team, what they wear, where they stand), not during it. That suits a game you check a few times a day. If you want to make choices while the fight is on, skip to the last entry.

AFK Arena: the hero collector

The best-known idle hero collector. You assemble a team, send it through the campaign and climb the arena against other players' teams. PvP here is about the roster: who you own, how far you have levelled them and how you line them up.

Idle Heroes: the veteran

One of the pioneers of the idle hero genre, with an arena and regular PvP tournaments on top of the campaign. A huge roster and a long history, with all that implies about how deep the systems go.

Shakes & Fidget: the satirical classic

Running since 2009 and still going. You create a hero, pick a class, send them on timed quests, then take them into the arena against other players' characters and into guild battles. Closest on this list to a classic RPG character with classes and gear.

Tap Titans 2: competitive, but not PvP

Worth a mention because it comes up in every search: Tap Titans 2 has no 1v1 fights. Its global tournaments rank how far you push against other players, and clan raids are co-operative. Very social, and a real competition, just not head to head. If you came from Tap Titans 2, the Tap Titans 2 alternative page compares it with ours.

Turbo Tap Masters: not idle, and that is the point

Our game, so it gets the honest label: it is not an idle game at all. Turbo Tap Masters is an active tap RPG, and its PvP is ranked 1v1 duels. Your build sets the numbers (equipped gear, socketed gems, your class and its skills), and then every round you choose where to strike and where to block, so reading your opponent matters as much as your stats. Wins move your rating on a global leaderboard.

The duels page in the wiki shows the damage formula, duel HP and what every stat does, and the builds show a skill order for each class.

Frequently asked

Are there idle games with real PvP?

Yes. AFK Arena, Idle Heroes and Shakes & Fidget all have arenas against other players' teams or characters. The fights play out automatically; your choices happen before them.

What is the best idle game with PvP?

For hero collecting, AFK Arena; for a long-running classic with classes and guilds, Shakes & Fidget. If you want to make decisions during the fight, try Turbo Tap Masters, an active tap RPG rather than an idle one.

Does Tap Titans 2 have PvP?

Not 1v1. Its competitive modes are global tournaments, which rank progress, and clan raids, which are co-operative.

How do duels work in Turbo Tap Masters?

Your equipped gear, gems and class skills set your numbers, and each round you choose where to strike and where to block. The duels page has the damage formula.
